An Air Force Brat, A Marine Corps Wife...

I've sat here staring at a blinking mouse trying to decide how to start off this military blog. Finally, I decided you'd probably want to know exactly who I am and why I thought I might have something to say. So, here goes.

I'm Elizajane202 and military has been my entire life, first as an Air Force Brat until my father retired and then I married my Marine. Trust me I've heard all those jokes between the AF and USMC, it has become quite common that whenever there is a family gathering someone must come up with the best joke.

I'm sure you've heard that being in the military means that you are always traveling, that didn't happen growing up. We did move from Ohio to California and stayed put until I got married. You couldn't tell me that I'd be moving a lot either, I just wouldn't believe it. That's when it happened, my husband got unaccompanied orders to Japan. Ha, you think I believed that? Not a chance, I laughed at him, I laughed at my dad and then I learned that it is true....Marines get stationed everywhere, with or without you. Since that first deployment I think we've become pros at moving and I must admit I actually LOVE going to new places and discovering new things.

I've learned a lot being in the military, the biggest thing is the difference between being a child of the military and being a married spouse. However, there is one thing I still haven't grasped and that's military time. I've finally figured that if it is anything past noon just subtract 12 from it and you get your time.

To end this I just wanted to add that yes, I have been through deployments, gave birth with him here and without him, unaccompanied tours and actually moved with my spouse a few times. We also experienced living in hotels for about three months on our last move, but that's a whole other story.
